Okay, while we’re all still in shock over the fact that the Beebs is officially off the market, we’re also devastated we have to come to terms with the reality that ‘Jelena’ will never ever happen. #RIP
But instead of shifting all our attention to the Bieber who is currently all loved-up and living the couple life with finance Hailey, shouldn’t we be turning to Selena Gomez to offer her some emotional support?
Apparently not because the 25-year-old looks like she is livin’ life. According to a recent Instagram post, she too, is in a pretty deep relationship…with her ankle weights.
Yep, the singer spent the weekend at Disneyland with ankle weights strapped to her legs, to burn those extra calories and tone up her legs without having to hit the gym.
While over here scratching our heads wondering how she manages to make weights chic AF, what we really should be asking is whether we should be getting on board this mind-blowing trend.
According to Sydney-based PT Lia Jones, there are both pros and cons to adopting the celeb’s workout hack.
While wearing weights will obviously elevate your heart rate and help you burn more calories, Lia also says it’s a clever way for those with low bone density.
“Due to the weight of the ankle weights whilst walking, it improves bone density, so it’s good for osteoporosis.”
However, she also warns ankle weights aren’t for everyone.
“If you have any muscle imbalances or poor biomechanics, the weight of the ankle weights could cause more imbalances, increasing more injury.
“Ankle weights don’t always build muscle on the legs evenly and can cause stress on the joints if certain muscles aren’t activated enough.”
Bottom line, “they’re good for people in good shape, but people who are frail, unconditioned, or overweight, will increase their risk of injury or cause imbalances.”
Hmm, smart idea Selena, but we think we’ll leave our weights for the gym.
